1. Thanks for your prayers! Our current course in the World Missions department, Introduction to Islam, is going well. Our students are amazed at what they’re learning. We have 1 Uzbek, 1 Kazakh, and 1 Iranian in the class also – they are able to provide first-hand illustration of the facts about Muslim culture and religion.

2. Quite a few of our faithful supporters have written or called to ask, “How are you faring during this time of financial recession?” Although we prefer to report only on the positives, we want to give a balanced picture of our situation so you can pray. Ukrainians call this time “The Crisis” and I believe for missionaries it is a good term. Before the “crisis” we were under-supported financially, but this shortage was usually made up by means of extra, one-time gifts. These one-time gifts have diminished considerably, and we have also lost support from a couple of churches and several individuals.

What does this mean to our life and ministry in Ukraine? We have cut back, of course. We continue to do teaching and training, but our conferences and seminars are on a smaller scale. It is ironic that just when we were gaining momentum in promoting mission work in this part of the world, the new financial situation has changed the picture. We continue to see God at work, and He will build His Church! Please pray for us, as we make important decisions regarding priorities and ministries.

3. Special prayer request: next week I will teach a large group of Iranian students (secular class), using gospel magic as an opportunity for witness. I must tread carefully, since I am limited in what I can say. Pray for good communication, good relationships, and wisdom. Thank you.

We’re looking up!
