I left Cheri in the taxi with our eight suitcases and hurried up to the 6th floor to see how our apartment was. The key turned in the lock and I rushed in to make sure everything was okay.
We found the apartment pretty much as we left it. There were some signs that someone had stayed here short-term, but nothing was missing.
Even after calling every phone number I could find, we still haven’t been able to make contact with our landlord. But the electricity and water haven’t been shut off, so I assume he has been paying for it. I’m sure he will show up one day to collect the rent.
Thank you so much for praying. The Lord answered. This could easily have gone the other way.
Started First-Days-Back Routine
Switched wedding rings to our right hands. In Ukrainian culture this shows that we are married.
Bought groceries. Our fridge was unplugged and totally empty.
Set up internet service. So we could write to you and do other stuff.
Emptied suitcases. Getting organized should help us get back to “normal.”
Set up phone services. We need to start over with new local phone numbers.
Woke up Friday at 2:15 am. We are functioning, but jetlag takes a week to get completely over.
Preparing for Ministry
We’ve already started making new “To Do” lists.
I am preparing to teach my first course this term. It begins August 25.
We are contacting people to follow up details of our conference plans.
Thanks again for your prayers and concern. They mean much to us.
Warmly,
Rich and Cheri
