(In Russian, M.M.K.stands for Youth Missions Conference)
In a country where only a handful of people have shown an interest in world missions, I continue to marvel that nearly 400 people gathered last weekend for a two-day Youth Missions Conference in Kiev. The goal of this multi-church, multi-denominational effort was to inspire, train and recruit young Ukrainians to serve the Lord as foreign missionaries. My part, other than to serve on the planning committee, was to teach one of the nine electives. It was attended by youth leaders who are planning to lead mission trips this summer. I took them through the steps necessary to ensure a successful ministry trip.
Please pray for me, as I will speak on the same topic on March 20th in a local church that is sending out three teams this summer. They are going to Kazakhstan and Kenya. The booklet I wrote last summer has been a big help in training teams. In English, it’s called “Countdown to Launch: Planning your Short-Term Mission trip.” Email me at r_strahm@hotmail.com if you want a copy (in Russian).
