“The first time I lived in China, I was a tourist. Everything was new and interesting for me. But the second time I went, I began to see a different China. There were so many things I didn’t like, so many cultural aspects that annoyed me! After a few weeks these terrible feelings passed, but I realized that I needed
a more reasonable, clear-minded view of China. This time, I was able to get to know western missionaries there, and they helped me.” Arthur found a good church to attend, and did well in his studies. His knowledge of Mandarin increased, also.
He returned to Ukraine more determined than ever to live and work long-term in China. This year is his last at KTS, and he will graduate in May. “I sometimes think that after I graduate from seminary, I should go straight back to China. But it may be wiser to get an advanced degree before going back. The Chinese will want me to contribute some how to their society – I need a reason to be there, besides sharing the Gospel.”
Arthur needs our prayers. He asks that we pray for a job for him in China, and if necessary—further schooling to prepare him for that job. He would also like to marry and take a wife with him, one who is willing to work alongside him in the ministry. Here is a young man whom God has chosen, a serious student of the Word, an evangelist who loves the Chinese people. He represents the new breed of Ukrainian youth – free, smart, creative, adventurous. As a believer, Arthur is at the forefront of a new wave overflowing Ukraine’s borders, a wave of young people advancing into other nations with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
