Has the War in Eastern Ukraine Slowed Missions?

Has the War in Eastern Ukraine Slowed Missions?

Some of our students at Kiev Theological Seminary are crossing the line regularly to bring food, drinking water, clothes or mail to relatives and neighbors. They are also bringing Bibles and witnessing to people who feel lost and hopeless. It’s a significant new ministry for them.

Others of our current students are refugees themselves who relocated to Kiev. Their hardships have not dampened their desire to carry the Gospel of Christ across cultural borders and serve Him as missionaries.

I believe the answer to Ukraine’s problem is not political, but spiritual. As more people come to Christ, things will change internally. I think our best strategy is to train and send out more evangelists, pastors, church planters and missionaries who will win many to faith in Christ. Then we will see God’s blessing.

Therefore, the answer to the question, “Has the War in Eastern Ukraine Slowed Missions?” is “No!” If anything the war has accelerated missionary activity. Ukrainian churches and missionaries feel people’s social and spiritual needs more acutely now than before the war broke out. The war has not slowed Ukrainian missions overall – it has merely diverted it to new directions.

Prayer suggestion: Watch the “Spring Greetings” video and then pray for each student by name. Just click here to watch the video.
